I have been reading more about Mangroves. How wonderful and amazing they are, and also how important they are. I am just as fascinated with these trees as I am with all of the colorful creatures under the water.
I love the twists and turns of the roots and seeing them submerged and growing right out of the water is fascinating to me. I love the negative spaces it creates. The gaps in the prop roots where the water shines through. It is so different from the trees I know and love in New Hampshire. New Hampshire trees are tall steady, often straight and strong, close to water, but never IN it.
To learn more about Mangoves, the Florida DEP has a very informative page describing the kinds of mangroves that are native to Florida as well as how beneficial they are and why. Click here to learn more. https://floridadep.gov/rcp/rcp/content/floridas-mangroves.
