I love this work of art.
Isolation Peak Rocky Mountains by Lawren Harries 1930
Only recently, in my research about Yoho National Park, did I learn about the "group of seven" artists as they are known in Canada. They were wilderness painters capturing the beauty of landscapes in the early 1920's and 1930s.
If I had to pick a favorite of the seven, I would need to go with Lawren Harris. The simplicity of his paintings appeal to me as does his choice of color. I also like how he represents form in his work, but the form is abstracted. The sense of realism is traded in for a more stylistic approach that in my mind says more, with less.
