Bighorn Sheep of Rocky Mountain National Park

Bighorn Sheep of Rocky Mountain National Park

I love to read about all the animals and plants of the national parks.

Today was reading a little bit about Bighorn Sheep. Today they’re about 300-400 bighorn sheep in Rocky Mountain National Park but in the 60s and 70s, they were almost wiped out before a successful reintroduction program.

Bighorn sheep live in groups and the males are called Rams they actually do “ram” each other during mating season.

Males’ horns grow into a beautiful spiral shape by the time they are eight years old.

What magnificent creatures they are.
